Hope Debelius

Hi all,

I’m Hope! I am a Boston based lighting designer for theatre, dance, and opera. I am currently pursuing my MFA in Lighting Design from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts (expected graduation Spring 2026). I come from a background in dance that is very important to me, and I believe that it helps me create in valuable ways because of the way I understand/interpret movement. I am always looking to grow as a designer and theatre artist, and I believe that commitment, organization, collaboration, and responsibility are all integral parts of any design process.

I have had the opportunity to work with American Repertory Theatre, The Huntington Theatre Company, Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Baltimore Center Stage, The Pittsburgh Public Theatre, City Theatre Company, The Juilliard School, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and many others.

Upcoming Projects:

Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) (Assistant Lighting Designer)- The Longacre Theatre, Broadway

Contemporary Choreographers (Lighting Designer)- Pittsburgh Playhouse

Into the Woods (Lighting Designer)- College of the Holy Cross

We Had a World (Assistant Lighting Designer)- Huntington Theatre Company

Oedipus El Rey (Assistant Lighting Designer)- Huntington Theatre Company

Eureka Day (Assistant Lighting Designer)- Huntington Theatre Company
